Have been running, but not adding the runs to the log. Ugh.
Last Sunday, ran 22, felt strong, really wasn't bad at all. Ran over the Triborough Bridge, to Roosevelt Island, ran a loop there, back over the 59th Street Bridge, 1 loop in the park, and then ran home.
Monday--off.
Tuesday--4 miler with speed intervals. Finished in a ridiculous time of 26:42, or something like that.
Wednesday--9 miler in 60:42. I have more speed in my legs than I thought. Should push myself harder more often instead of staying in the more comfortable range all the time. Very happy with this time.
Thursday--off
Friday--1 hour of weight training, then 4-miler with hills. The run always feels a little weird after weights (especially since I did a lot of leg weights), but the run was fine. Didn't skimp on hills--two 5 inclines.
Saturday--off
Sunday, Sept. 30th--24 mile run. The muscle in my right side that has been giving me trouble struck again. Ran over the 59th Street Bridge, and it started in early. Got through Queens and Brooklyn and back over the Wiliamsburg without much of a problem. Ran around the bottom of Manhattan and stopped for water. Then, the muscle attacked--VERY painful run up the Westside. Stopped for cold water again by 14th Street and stretched it out. The stretching helped, but it was pretty dicey on and off for the next 9 miles. Legs were tired, as expected, but they weren't the problem, and my breathing was easy. Really need to take care of this muscle problem--would really suck if it is happened during a race. Hurt so badly I was tempted to give up. Didn't, but that might have had to do with the rain clouds that were threatening the last 3ish miles, followed by rain with 2 miles to go, followed by a torrential downpour with 1 mile to go. Kept me running as hard as I could to get the run over with without getting totally soaked (the latter part didn't work out--got totally soaked--but ran FAST while doing it).
